Who we are
Zion Lutheran is a member congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and subscribes to the official teachings of this denomination. Historic Lutheran teachings revolve around four central truths:
We are saved Only by Grace: Christianity is the only religion in the world that teaches salvation by grace alone, without our works. This teaching is best exemplified by the example of the Thief On The Cross, who turned to Jesus in his dying moments for hope and forgiveness. This thief was promised that he would be with Christ in paradise (Luke 23:40-43).
We are saved Only by Christ: God is both just and merciful. God’s justice requires punishment for sin. God’s mercy motivated him to send his Son to take the punishment that we deserved. As true man, Jesus was able to take our place. As true God, Jesus was able to pay for the sins of the whole world. John the Baptist pointed to Jesus as “The Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29)
God reveals himself Only through Scripture: We believe a loving God would clearly reveal to the world his saving message. Thus we accept the Scripture as God’s word to us without error. Jesus says,“I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.” (Matthew 5:18)
We are saved Only through Faith: We receive the benefits of God’s grace through faith. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) This faith not only trusts in God’s forgiveness, but in all God’s promises. True faith transforms our lives turning us from sin to a life of love rooted in God’s love. “We love because he first loved us.” (1 John 4:19)

Help my unbelief
Dear God, help my unbelief. When I'm in pain, I forget that you care about me. I forget that you have helped me through my trials. I forget that you hold me in your arms to keep me safe. I forget that you are feeling my pain with me. I forget that you love me, I forget that I am important to you. Show me your presence - let me feel your enveloping love. Heal my hurting soul. Thank you for staying with me even in my unbelief.
