Who we are
A. Frank Smith United Methodist Church seeks to follow Jesus' directions through "the big three," two great commandments and the great commission.
The first great commandment is that we love God with all of our heart, soul, strength, and mind. The second great commandment is that we love our neighbors as ourselves.
One of them, a legal expert, tested him. “Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
He replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You must love your neighbor as you love yourself."
Matthew 22:35-39 (CEB)
The great commission in when Jesus calls us to share the good news and make disciples.
"Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I’ve commanded you. Look, I myself will be with you every day until the end of this present age.”
Matthew 28:19-20 (CEB)
At A. Frank Smith United Methodist Church, we are intentional about growing in our love for God through worship, Bible study, Sunday School, sharing groups, and other programs that lead us to a better understanding of God and our relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
We seek to grow in our love for others through a variety of fellowship opportunities and activities within the Church and we are also actively involved in showing our love for others through participation in local, national, and global mission projects.
We seek to reach out to others following the model of Jesus Christ himself. We reach out, not in judgment, but in love and grace. We seek to offer unconditional love for others while inviting them to feel the love of God for themselves.
We believe that our commitment to God and the Church should be reflected in our daily lives. We seek to grow as disciples.
We invite you to join us on our spiritual journey to be one with God, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world.
