Ayer Federated Church History
Each of the three denominations were once separate churches in the town of Ayer. A combination of economic necessity and recognition of common beliefs brought the Methodist and Congregational churches to enter into a federation in 1915. In 1931 they were joined by the Baptist congregation. Thus the union has endured more than 65 years making it one of the oldest federated churches in the area. The large white church building and steeple, located just one block from downtown Ayer, is a prominent landmark in the town. The church's support of community programs, including Scouting and Loaves & Fishes, makes it a very visible member of the community.
