Ayres Memorial Church History
Our church was organized in 1957 and held its first service in the home of the W.D. Arnold family. Property was acquired at 2771 West Point Road and the church assumed its permanent home there. "Members of Ayres Memorial Methodist Church gathered on Sunday, April 28, 1957, to break ground for a new church building. Prior to this time, members had met for worship in a small wooden structure located near the new building site on West Point Road. Participating in the ground breaking ceremony were Gerald Morrison, chairman of the building committee; Aubrey Eley, building commissioner; Riley Middleton, pastor; Johnnie Ledford, Jr., church treasurer; W. D. Arnold, church school superintendent; and R.T. Ayres, Sr., building commissioner."
We have a time tested worship tradition based on Bible preaching, and conservative Christian values. Our Pastor is Wayne Hester who has served as a minister in the United Methodist Church for over 15 years. If you are searching for something to believe in we invite you to come and learn about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." No man can lead a sin free life, only Jesus Christ can save us from sin, and it is only through him that we can go to heaven. A man cannot acheive a heavenly reward based on his own good works.
