Who we are
An actor, a professor, a great group of students, a couple of nurses, a handful of architects, a lawyer, an engineer, an accountant, a doula, a dancer, a building manager, some folks who really get into softball, a Texan or two, a family of Canadians, and an IT guy walk into a bar. Or, in this case, into a church. And the punch line? They love each other, they laugh together, they sing a lot, they love to eat – and, they make room for more folks to join in the joy around the table.
That’s Broadway Presbyterian Church. We are a quirky-beautiful crowd.
From a curious cast of characters, God is making a family. We work together and worship together. We listen to the stories of Jesus, and we try to learn from his example and follow as he leads. We trust that God is active in our world, and in every human life – bringing healing to our brokenness, bringing justice to the oppressed, bringing hope to the hopeless. We make mistakes, and we do our best to learn from them, too, even as we give thanks for God’s grace. We pray together – so that we can remember that we are not alone in facing the challenges of life, or in celebrating life’s wonders.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to visit our website. We hope it gives you a glimpse of what God is up to here at 114th Street and Broadway. Remember, there’s always room for you at the Table.
Peace and joy,
Chris Shelton

Quote of the Day
Colossians 1:16
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Join us for worship at 10:30am each Sunday in our beautiful sanctuary, where we offer our thanks, praise, and prayers to God, and open our hearts and minds to the power of the Spirit to transform ourselves and our community.
On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate the joyful Feast of God’s Grace – gathering around the Communion Table. We believe that it is the living Christ who invites us to the Table, and we trust that his invitation is for all people.
Baptism, for children and adults, also happens on Sunday mornings.

On Sunday mornings, children are welcome to join us in worship - experiencing the first 15 minutes of music and prayer together with their familes, and with the whole community. Most services include a Children's Sermon that centers around a Bible story, or an important theme about living our faith. Following the Children's Sermon and a prayer, children 5 and under are welcome to head upstairs for a supervised playtime - and children 6 and up meet for Sunday School.
In Sunday School, the kids explore the Bible - its parts, its stories, its characters - and they consider the important issues the Bible brings up. Our Sunday School teachers encourage a variety of activities: role playing, craft making, drawing, painting, and music making.
A highlight of the Advent-Christmas Season is the annual Children's Christmas Pageant, which is offered as a gift to the community on one of the Sundays in December.
