Who we are
Brockley Community Church, a place to belong...
Brockley is a great place to live, with great people and great places. We want to celebrate and enjoy all that is good about it and at the same time play our part in making it an even better place to be.
Above everything else, we believe church is about responding to Jesus’ message of love, hope and faith. Our name, ‘Brockley Community Church‘, describes us pretty well. We are a group of local people who have found that God is alive and well in Brockley and Lewisham and is interested in ordinary people!
We come from many different backgrounds but share the same conviction - that no matter who we are or where we’re from, we can all find a ‘place to belong’ in the give-and-take of being community with others.
We see ourselves as a community, but not one that does just ‘religious things’, cut off from other people. We are very involved locally and work hard to serve the different groups of people in Brockley.
As Christians we hold to the teachings of the Bible, but we are committed to living them out in practice, rather than keeping them locked up in textbooks. So our activities are accessible to all-comers - for example, our all-age service is usually described as ‘very friendly and welcoming’ by those who visit for the first time. You’re welcome to come and find out for yourself - every Sunday at 10.30am.
Here's a summary of our vision statement:
1. Transformed Lives through Encounter with Jesus
It all starts with us, as we allow Jesus to transform our lives (read John 1:42)
2. Transformed Community through Living with Jesus
But it’s not just an individual thing – God expects to change our relationships and community life too (Acts 4:13 and 34)
3. Transformed Society through Going with Jesus
Nor are we expected to keep it all to ourselves (Acts 17:6)
Activities
We have both thriving children's and youth works, and run a number of small groups, which give support to members and others alike. Our "Healthy Brockley" community initiative provides events, activities and courses for the community. Courses include parenting, stress or money management and wellbeing. We are involved in a number of overseas projects, operating in France, Nigeria and Burundi.
You're very welcome at any of our activities. Just give us a ring or visit our website to find out more!

Quote of the Day
Isaiah 53:4
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
