Who we are
Calvary Chapel Elizabeth City is a group of believers who meet together to grow in the knowledge, grace, and love of our Lord Jesus Christ through His Word, worship, and prayer. We hope to see the people of the Albemarle area come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior and then to fall deeper in love with Him. We invite you to join us on Sunday mornings as we study through God’s Word chapter by chapter and verse by verse.
Our Vision: We desire to be transformed by the Word of God, together as a body of believers, while it is called “today”!
Transformed – by the renewing of your mind – when our minds are renewed we think differently. When we obey this principle and allow the Holy Spirit and the Word of God to transform us: our lives will prove it. See: Romans 12:2
Together – As Christians we are all invited to behold the Lord and be transformed into His image. To encourage others – when we gather together it should be consistent and motivated more by what we contribute than by what we can get out of our fellowship. See: 2 Corinthians 3:18
Today! – Our motivation to serve God is urgent and should not be put off for another day in the future. Today is the day to know the Lord Jesus as Savior. Today is the day to comfort a loved one or the lost and lonely. Today is the day to grow deeper in your faith! See: Hebrews 3:12-15

Calvary Chapel Elizabeth City History
Calvary Chapel Elizabeth City stands as one local expression of a global movement. In 1965, Pastor Chuck Smith started his ministry at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. Beginning with 25 people, he saw God bless his simple, yet consistent style of teaching straight through the Bible.
Starting as a ministry to a generation of hippies, surfers, and drug addicts, the Calvary Chapel Movement, also known as the Jesus Movement, was instrumental in bringing thousands of young people to Jesus Christ during the sixties and seventies. God has expanded the ministry to an international organization with over 1,500 Calvary Chapels. We are independent non-denominational Christian churches that recognize the same philosophy of ministry and style of worship.
