Who we are
Calvary Church began in 1985 as a group of about a dozen Christians meeting in a rented room in the local primary school.
The aim was to serve the spiritual and practical needs of the people living in the immediate area. To this day and beyond, the church exists for the people outside its walls.
Numbers attending the church grew steadily and by 1988 there were around 50 or so people coming regularly and the need for a permanent building became apparent. Two years later in May 1990, building work started in Stallings Lane, by Christmas we were in and getting ready for the opening in 1991. The new Church building proved to be a springboard for further growth in many different ways.
Over the next 15 years Calvary would grow in many ways, the weekly programme became packed with clubs, events and meetings and by 2004 over 300 people were regularly attending Sunday Services.
Calvary today is so different to what it was back in 1985 with many and varied activities in addition to the regular Sunday services and weekly programmes! What of the future? Well who knows!

Under 12s:
Blast Off is the Kids Club run by Calvary Church from 6:30-7:45pm every Friday night during term time.
Blast Off Juniors is for children in Reception and Year 1 and it takes place in the upstairs rooms at Calvary Church.
Blast Off Base Camp is for children in Year 2 up to Year 4, this takes place in the main hall of Calvary Church.
Blast Off Beyond is for children in Years 5 and 6, this takes place at The Source Youth Centre on Barnett Lane.

Ignite is our thriving youth department. It has a jam-packed calendar of events and activities designed to empower anybody between the ages of 11 & 19 to become the best person they can be, to live life to the full, to strive for their dreams and to impact the community around them in a positive way.
Ignite youth meet every friday night during term time, doors open at 8:15 and the fun continues until 10pm.
Ignite is our thriving youth department. It has a jam-packed calendar of events and activities designed to empower anybody between the ages of 11 & 19 to become the best person they can be, to live life to the full, to strive for their dreams and to impact the community around them in a positive way.
