Who we are
At Christ the King, we welcome you wherever you are in your spiritual journey. We want you to feel like you belong and can become all God wants you to be. Our goal is to help you grow closer to God and stronger in your faith while building real, lasting friendships with those who can support and encourage you in your faith.
Whether you've never been to church before, it’s been years since you've been, or you are new to the Omaha area and are looking for a church near where you live, our goal is to make you feel at home. As you read more about our church, we want this to remain about you and God – not about programs, styles of church music, or political slants. Our goal as a church is to help people connect with God.
Like most churches, our primary gathering happens on Sunday mornings. Sunday School and Adult Discipleship are at 9:00am followed by worship at 10:00am. Worship lasts about an hour and there is always something for Fellowship after worship. You’ll find friendly people, don’t worry about being singled out as a visitor or being pressured to give money. Come on in, look around.
We are a liturgical worshiping community. If you don’t know what that means, no biggie. It’s simply a pattern for worship, but everything is printed in the bulletin. Worship changes through the year so it’s not the same liturgy every week. We have about six different liturgies, or patterns for worship. We primarily use piano and organ for worship and sing hymns and songs that don’t require a music degree to enjoy.
Our pastor has a special message for kids each week. He preaches for about ten minutes and he’s not hard to understand or relate to. It is the exception that we don’t celebrate Holy Communion, but know that you don’t need to be a member to celebrate with us. Remember, we are about connecting with God, not keeping people away.
We do other stuff too. Men gather for breakfast. Ladies make quilts for refugees. We have a good time doing Fish Frys… yes a Lutheran Church Fish Fry! We have events for kids. We have a choir. We also partner with several community groups to help them do what they do for the good of the community, not just our members. But the all stuff we do doesn't happen because we have a formula for how to do church. It happens because God has given people gifts to share and in the sharing we grow closer to God.
Stop by and see what we think it means to be growing in FAITH, LOVE, and SERVICE to the God who loves us.
