Who we are
Welcome to the Church of The Good Samaritan. Whoever you are, we trust that there's a place here for you to belong and grow in faith.
We're glad you've found us. We're a community of people who are committed to following Jesus. We've discovered his power to transform us, so that we, in turn, can share something of that transforming love with those around us. If you'd like to know a little more about our values, you can read about them here.
The church has been around for 2,000 years since Jesus first sent his followers out to baptize people and spread the word. We've been here as a branch of that world-wide church in Paoli since 1870. We're an Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Pennsylvania within the greater Anglican Communion, seeking to be a biblically faithful congregation, transformed by God's love and empowered to serve our neighbor. You can learn more about our history here.
The best way to learn about us is to come and visit. Please do join us for worship on a Sunday at 9:00am or 11:00am (or even 7:30am if you're an early bird). If you'd like to know more about us please do explore this website - but if it would help to talk to somebody in person please contact us and we can meet up or talk on the phone and answer whatever questions you have.

Leader Bio:
Revd Richard Morgan is the ninth rector of the Church of the Good Samaritan, Paoli, Pennsylvania. Richard, his wife Ruth, and their five children moved to Paoli from England in 2012. Richard is the son of an Anglican priest and was educated at Cambridge University. As an ordained priest he has served in an Urban Priority Area parish in the west of England; as Chaplain at a retreat centre and as Rector of two country parishes in Essex, England. When he answered the call from the Vestry of Good Samaritan, he was an associate at a large church in Salisbury, England. A thought provoking preacher, lively teacher and solid writer, Richard is also an enthusiastic musician who occasionally performs with the worship service praise band. Said Fr. Morgan, “I love being part of the family of the Church of the Good Samaritan. It is a wonderful community where we learn to love one another, and to allow God’s power to be at work transforming our lives and empowering us to love and serve our neighbours."

Church of The Good Samaritan Paoli Service Times
Church: 9am & 11am
9am - Main Parish Eucharist
11am - 'New Chapel' contemporary service
Chapel: 7:30am & 11am
7:30am - Rite I
11am - Rite II
Our main service is at 9am and our contemporary service ('New Chapel') at 11am. We have two more traditional services in the old church (the Chapel) at 7.30am and 11am.
We'd like to make that experience as easy as possible - and give you a bit of a heads up as to what to expect. We love visitors - we will give you a warm welcome but not smother you; if you want to connect with people there is a welcome table in the main entrance atrium - please come and introduce yourself - and stay for coffee or lunch; if you want to come and sit quietly and observe and slip straight out at the end of a service you can do that too.

Worship Languages
Dress code:
All sorts of people worship at Good Sam - young and old, college students and retirees, singles and people with large families. Our dress preferences are as diverse as we are. Please come just as you are - people are wearing everything from suits to sweat pants and Phillies tees. As a very rough guide people worshipping in the chapel or at 9am are a little smarter (think what you'd wear out for dinner) and at New Chapel (11am in church) a little more casual (think what you'd wear to go to the mall).
