Who we are
CrossPoint Church is a community of authentic people who are on the journey of loving God and loving others well. We proclaim that Jesus is the only One who can restore our broken relationship with God, quench our spiritual thirst and satisfy the hunger for meaning and purpose in our lives. We love to worship our God, serve our flock and care for our neighbors. We're a small church with a big heart who desire to help families know, obey and enjoy God and we'd love for you to come join us!

Leader Bio:
Rick is excited to be part of the leadership team at CrossPoint Church. He joined the staff on November 15, 2016 as CrossPoint’s 11th senior pastor. While a recent addition to us at CPC, Rick began fulltime ministry over 40 years ago. Rick is a youth pastor turned senior pastor with a passion for doing life with people of all ages. His heart is to equip and encourage believers as they love God and love others.
In 2017, Rick celebrated 40 years of marriage to his high school sweetheart, Sharon. They have two adult kids– Josh (Julie) Wager and Kara (Scott) Wessman– and six grandkids. They live just up the road in Lake Zurich, IL close to their family. In his spare time, Rick loves to serve at Silver Birch Ranch in northern Wisconsin, going on missions trips, swinging a hammer, biking and riding horses. He loves the outdoors, coffee, his wife, kids and grandkids, the White Sox, the Bears and most of all his Savior.

CrossPoint Church History
CrossPoint Church has been part of the Fox Lake community for over 60 years. As you can imagine, much has happened throughout those years, below you will find a short history from days gone by. Our hope is that while you read about our beginning you’ll give God praise for all He’s done and continues to do– not just for us at CPC– but for all of mankind through His Son’s Jesus.
Originally known as the Fox Lake Baptist Chapel, our church started out as in-home weekly Bible classes in February of 1955. In June of that year, Roger Bergeson was hired by the Midwest Baptist Conference to plant a church here in Fox Lake, IL. Our first service was held on Sunday, October 30, 1955 with just 32 congregants. In those early years the people of FLBC met in a beauty parlor, a pizzeria and even the Hamsher Funeral Home. On May 21, 1958, the formal organization of Fox Lake Baptist Church was formed and by September 1958 had officially affiliated with the Midwest Baptist Conference. In 1961, we moved to our current location on W. Nippersink Rd and on April 9th the ground was broken for our first building. With much hard work and many volunteers our building began (this is what we now know as our gym and youth area). Just 15 years later an addition was needed and by the end of 1976 the current sanctuary was completed. On December 19, 1976, Pastor Howard Olson and his son Rick led the way into the new sanctuary for a time of prayer and thanksgiving. 31 years after the building was complete, the FLBC family voted to change our name to CrossPoint and in 2007 we officially became CrossPoint Church of Ingleside, IL.
Since the start, God blessed us with many dearly loved and devout pastors and leaders. Over the years these men ministered to and loved, not only the people of FLBC, but the community of Fox Lake as well. We’re continually grateful to God for the foundation they laid and the heritage they left behind. What you’ll find at CPC today is a group of imperfect people doing their best to love and serve God by sharing the Good News we’ve been entrusted with. Our mission is to carry on what was started back in 1955, on that cold February day, to teach families to know, obey and enjoy Christ in order to share Him with others.
We hope you’ll stop by and join us in the journey, as we live to serve, live to love and live to share the love of God in our corner of the world.
