Quote of the Day
Luke 12:24
Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?

Crosspoint Church Of Oshawa History
In August of 1964 Rev. BJ Church visited Oshawa to ‘scout out’ a location for the United Pentecostal Church of Oshawa. This was a culmination of several years of vision and burden by Pastor Church and his wife, Charolette. It was their calling to bring the Apostolic message to Durham Region.
November 1, 1964, marked the beginning of a new era for Oshawa and the surrounding communities. BJ and Charolette Church and their infant son, James, had moved to the city, renting the third floor of a building located on the northeast corner of “four-corners” in downtown Oshawa.
In the summer of 1965, 320 Ritson Road South was purchased and the growing congregation moved to these new facilities. During the late 1960’s the congregation grew as did the Church family with the birth of son David Scott and twin daughters Tamara Sue and Michelle Lynn. A third son, Calvin Mark, was born in 1971.
In 1979 the ministry of The Children’s Place of the United Pentecostal Church of Oshawa began. This center was operating until 2016 at the 320 Ritson Road South location and over the years was instrumental in financing capital projects and operating expenses of the church.
As the Church entered the 1980’s a giant step of faith was taken. The facilities at 320 Ritson Road South were no longer adequate for the growing congregation. Property was purchased at 700 Ritson Road North and in the spring of 1982 the ground was broken on what is now our present facility.
In the fall of 1981, Apostolic Missionary Institute, the Bible College of the UPC (Ontario District), relocated to the Church facilities in Oshawa. This Church has had a worldwide impact through the training of ministry students who upon completion of their studies have spread the Good News of the Gospel throughout Canada and around the globe.
During the late 1980’s, further church growth was experienced as well as the establishment of several new ministries in the Church. This time also brought tragedy as Mrs. Charolette Church, stricken with cancer, passed from this life. This great lady, who so faithfully laboured with her husband in the establishing and growing of the Church, went to meet her Lord on March 27, 1989.
Pastor BJ later married Elizabeth (Dunn) Church who ran the administration of the Church and daycare and continues to lead the office administration of the church.
In 2002, Rev. James and his wife Starla accepted the co-pastorate of the United Pentecostal Church of Oshawa. James worked side by side with his Father until, on July 21, 2012, Bishop BJ Church passed from this life.
Pastor James Church and Starla, continue to give dynamic leadership to the congregation. They have inspired the church to believe for growth and revival. In June 2013 the “iBelieve” capital campaign was initiated to facilitate Pastor Church’s vision of enlarged, updated ministry spaces. Plans for the expansion and the remodeling of the facilities are underway.
On September 26, 2013, the Board of Directors unanimously voted to change the name of the church from the United Pentecostal Church of Oshawa to Crosspoint Church. The name gives a clear signal that we continue to proclaim the Gospel message, pointing individuals to the Cross of Christ. It is at the cross that one will experience the life changing power of God and begin a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
