Who we are
Who We Are
We believe God is a living, active, personal, present God who is all-knowing, all-powerful and all-loving. He exists in three persons - the Father (God), the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit. He created the earth that we live in, everything in it and all the heavens and galaxies around it. He created mankind in His image and gave each person a soul that will live forever, either with Him in Heaven or apart from Him in hell. He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on our behalf because the sin in our lives separates us from Him.
We believe that Jesus was fully man and fully God. We believe that he was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, called people into relationship with Him, and died on the cross as the atoning sacrifice for all mankind. We believe that Jesus laid in the grave three days and rose again on the third day. We believe he continues to call men into His kingdom. We believe that Jesus will return one day to take the faithful home.
We believe the Holy Spirit is alive and active, and lives within people who obey the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit enables us to grow in the character traits of God" love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
We believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation (John 14:6). To be saved, you must (1) believe that Jesus is the Son of God, (2) repent of your sins, (3) confess Jesus as the Son of God and Savior, and (4) be baptized for the remission of sins. We believe baptism is immersion in water, which represents the burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as described in Romans 6:3-5. Faith must always precede baptism, so only those old enough to understand and believe the gospel can be baptized.
We believe the church consists of all throughout the world who have come to Jesus for salvation and are locally organized and existing in congregations overseen by elders and served by deacons. These people come together to worship God regularly and, especially, on Sundays - the first day of the week. The worship of the church is for the purpose of praising and adoring God. Each member should be encouraged by the worship experience. One of the central reasons for worshiping together is to remember the death, burial and resurrection Jesus Christ through the weekly observance of the Lord's Supper.
