Who we are

Our desire as a church is to grow in knowledge and love of the LORD and, above all, to glorify Him in our lives.

We believe the tool that God uses to foster growth in his people is His Word (II Timothy 3:16-17). We also believe that God works through the preaching of the Gospel to save sinners (I Corinthians 1:23-24).

Timothy Scott is the pastor-teacher of First Baptist Church of Independence, Ky.

He and his wife, Diane reside in Kenton County along with their three children. Tim has served as the pastor of FBC Independence since July 2020. Tim holds a B.A. from Clear Creek Baptist Bible College and a MTh from Campbellsville University. Tim was saved when he was 8 years old and has served in various ministry positions and has been preaching the gospel since he was 19 years old.

Outside of Scripture, the most shaping influences for Tim in pastoral ministry have been the Puritans, Abraham Kuyper (1837-1920), John MacArthur (1939-), Jerry Bridges (1929-2016) and R.C. Sproul (1939-2017). Tim loves spending time with his family, reading, hunting and fishing.
