Genesis was a calling that began in 2008 with a few families in Atlanta, Georgia led by Pastor Tim Grandstaff and his wife Tandy. After years and months of wrestling with God, the call to start a church had become loud and clear. For the next year while still on staff at West Ridge Church, Tim and Tandy Grandstaff along with their church staff there would plan, strategize, and begin the move for their family of four along with a few other families to Orlando, Florida in 2009. A dream thirteen years in the making as Tim interned at First Baptist Orlando in the summer of 1996, where he fell in love with the city and it’s people. In the Fall of 2009 twenty-six adults and children would birth the core of Genesis Church.

It was on Sunday January 24, 2010, Genesis Church opened it’s doors to East Orlando at Timber Lakes Elementary School in Avalon Park to a 150 people. What started as a calling from God and a big dream for us, became a reality as we quickly began to grow and reach our community. Church for Genesis wasn’t and isn’t just about Sunday, so a school was no big deal. The leaders of Genesis were comfortable in a school because in GA the church they were on staff and in a church that had met in a local school for almost 9 years before it built it’s on facility. The school as any building was just a reminder for our church that faith is to be active outside the walls of a building and not secluded in it.

In just over four years Genesis quickly grew and were soon were holding two services of almost five hundred people to accommodate everyone. The heartbeat of this church was to always stay active in the community no matter how big we grew and so we made it a devotion of ours to extend generosity in many ways to serve Orlando and around the world. (see HERE) However after almost five years our young church needed a new location to continue to grow and God began to work again. In the summer of 2014 God opened the doors for Genesis Church to move to the center of the marketplace with a larger facility at Regal IMAX in Waterford Lakes Town Center. All through the book of Acts we discover the church alive and active in the center of its community and we believe this new move allowed us to take that one step further as we seek to be the church God outlines in the Bible.

In November of 2014 Genesis moved from the local elementary school to the theater. It is here now that we believe God is continuing to work and going to do even greater things as we seek to reach our city with the gospel of Jesus. The vision has just begun with so many lives being changed and the best is yet to come! We just celebrated our five year anniversary and you can learn more about that HERE. Genesis was given its name with a clear message… with God there are always new beginnings! If you are looking for a church, have had no church experience, or maybe have lost trust in the church we invite you to come with us on our journey. Our faith isn’t in the church either, but in Jesus. However, we believe it’s through the church that God made a plan to help the world. Genesis is a place with a purpose to rethink life the way God intended and that place is where we and you can always begin.

Pre-School
Your Child is guaranteed to have an incredible time in our Pre-School Area! To go along with a safe, exciting atmosphere, and loving volunteers, your child will experience a bounce-house, plenty of toys, interactive games, music, and story-time. Our goal in the Pre-School area is to lay a basic biblical foundation for the children to build upon in a very engaging way!Nursery & Toddler

Ignite Week
Ignite is a week long high-level sports and arts camp offered annually at Genesis Church. It’s purpose is to provide a structured, entertaining environment for kids from Kindergarten to fifth grade while giving them hope, meaning and purpose the way God intended. Ignite will take place each summer at Legacy Middle School near Waterford Lakes Town Center. Ignite is designed for every child K5 to 5th grade, and best of all, Ignite week is COMPLETELY FREE! Though the themes will change from year to year, the fun and excitement will always stay the same!
