Who we are

Welcome to Greyfriars Church, Reading

At Greyfriars our relationship with God and with each other is what really matters to us. Greyfriars is a church where people can come to be loved and supported. It is a place where we can get to know God for ourselves so that we can share God’s love with all. We are not perfect, as a church or as individuals, but we are on a journey of faith and relationship and we invite everyone to join us.

We are a lively, large Anglican town centre church which is made up of people from all walks of life. We value good Bible teaching and committed relationships in which we can live out the message of the Bible. We believe that we are made for a relationship with God, who loves each of us passionately and cares deeply for us. As part of the Church of England, we try to share God's love for all across Reading and throughout the world.

Our Sunday services include a range of music from band-led songs to organ-led hymns, prayer and encouragement from the Bible. We include children in our morning service before they go to their age-specific groups. We celebrate Holy Communion once a month at each service.

As we are a large church, we encourage people to join a smaller group in which to build relationships with each other. We have a large range of groups, from Time Out for Women to Men's Weekends to Home Groups.

Our members are involved in serving the people of Reading in many ways, including in our Prayer Cafe, as Street Pastors, through the Rahab project for sex workers, through the Yeldall Manor residential project for those with addictions, as volunteers with the FAITH group fighting poverty and much more.

Worldwide, Greyfriars supports mission partners who help local communities in Europe, Africa and Asia.
