Who we are
Hauser Community Church was founded in 1959 when a group of local families invited Village Missionary Bob Rush to come and conduct afternoon worship services for them in the Sunny Hill Community building. After meeting Sunday afternoons for a few months, they asked for a full-time Village Missionary and Alton and Jackie Williams came.
In 1965 Village Missionaries Mel and Jeannie Wiggers arrived and the church had grown to about 60. Mel began a series of home Bible studies and work on completing the church building. Faith and excitement for the Lord's work began to increase as many people put their trust in Christ and joined the church. Within two years the completed sanctuary was dedicated debt-free and the church became self-supporting. Soon additional rooms were added for Sunday School and a second worship service to accommodate the growing congregation.
In 1975 the current auditorium was envisioned, and 6 years later was competed and dedicated, again entirely debt-free. As the church grew, additional staff was added to share the ministry responsibilities, and more property purchased for parking. Then in the early 1980's the regional economy took a significant downward turn, mills were closed and working families moved out of the area. During this discouraging time, the church family drew together and recommit themselves to sharing the Good News of Christ with neighbors. The church grew healthier and eventually resumed steady numerical growth.
In 2004, Mel Wiggers retired at age 70 and with over 38 years of ministry invested in this church and community. Village Missionaries John & Candy Adams followed and the church continued to share the Love of Christ with the community. As the years have progressed, more young families have become a part of the church family because the church is equipping them to pass on faith to their children. Now with a mix of ages, the church is committed to representing Christ well by preaching the Word of God in a way that is easily understood and practically applied. At the same time we are committed to loving the people around us because Jesus does!
Our partnership with Village Missions allows us to participate in the largest and most effective mission outreach to rural North America.
