Who we are
The Headland United Methodist Church is the Home Church for many members of the Headland Community. Under the guidance of Rev. Misty Barrett, our church is growing in God’s glory. We aim to make HUMC an inviting place for all to come and learn about God’s love. Through small groups, children’s ministry and community events, the Headland United Methodist Church welcomes the community to share in our Lord’s worship and ministry.

Misty grew up in Selma, Alabama. She graduated from Selma High School in 1985 and entered Huntingdon College. She was very active during her years there. She was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, the Campus ministries Association, and was Senior Class President just to name a few. After graduation in 1989 she entered Duke Divinity School at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. While she was there she served four churches throughout North Carolina as a Student Intern. Misty was Ordained in 1991 and was appointed back to Seminary to finish her studies.
From 1991 - 2001, Misty served in United Methodist Churches throughout Alabama. It was at St. John’s UMC also in Mobile where she felt and answered the call to serve in England. Misty was granted an Extensions Ministry Appointment for three years and she served in the British Methodist Church. In 2004, Misty and her family returned to the states and she returned to her home state and continued to serve. In July 2017 Misty was appointed to Headland UMC in Headland, Alabama.
