Who we are
Welcome to Holy Transfiguration.
Holy Transfiguration is a canonical orthodox parish of the Bulgarian Diocese of the USA, Canada, & Australia - Metropolitan JOSEPH. Although under the ecclesiastical supervision of the Bulgarian Patriarchate, Holy Transfiguration is not an ethnic Bulgarian parish. All church services are in the English language and the majority of parishioners are American converts to the Orthodox Tradition. Ethnically we are Polish, Irish, Italian, Fijian, Georgian, Russian, Scots, English, Brazilian, Romanian, Jewish, Chinese, Bulgarian, Spanish, and more.
For the inquirer or newcomer to the Eastern Church Holy Transfiguration offers a uniquely welcoming and sensitive doorway into this rich spiritual world. Here the ancient tradition is brought to life in an intimate small church setting. Visitors are made welcome by parishioners who were probably visitors themselves at one time.
All Orthodox churches are centered upon the worship of the Trinity, Father, Son & Holy Spirit. At Holy Transfiguration this worship is made vividly present as the ancient liturgies are celebrated in our beautiful little church. As the church sings in one of its lovely hymns, "Come, taste and see that the Lord is good."
Holy Transfiguration is physically sustained by the labors and monetary support of its members. Our clergy serve without salary. No collections are made during services. Holy Transfiguration is an offering to God in grateful thanksgiving for the blessing of Illumination by His Gospel, and an offering to contemporary Americans who may be seeking that same Light.
