Who we are

We are an eclectic community of folks who aspire to share God’s love with the world around us. Together, we steward our religious heritage–the spiritual foundations of Kenduskeag and our nation. As our bicentennial era approaches, we hope our church represents God’s Grace to present and future generations of local citizens. May our sanctuary meet the challenges and blessings of modernity.

John 15:16

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Kenduskeag Union Church History

In 1828, the Baptist Church of Levant was founded. On December 24, 1834, with the help of deacons of that church, community members founded the Congregational Church of Levant . So, as community boundaries evolved in the mid-1800s, these churches became central to the establishment of this town. Though other denominations and Christian sects were short-lived, this important faith alliance evolved through several variations of what is now Kenduskeag Union Church.

Over the past 60 years, Kenduskeag and surrounding communities experienced an economic and cultural shift away from its rural beginnings. Today, there is a stronger exurban relationship with the Bangor area. So, more folks want the sanctuary of country life, while working in the city. KUC faces God’s blessing of change and the much-needed translation of His Grace onto a 21st century Kenduskeag.
