Who we are

Knox is part of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. As Presbyterians we are first and foremost followers of Jesus Christ. Our belief in the Trinity — God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit — is central to our faith. We trace our roots back to those who walked with Jesus, believed in Him, and received the eternal life He promised.

Knox’s first service was held in April 1833 on the banks of the nearby Sixteen Mile Creek. Since then, worshippers have enjoyed services and fellowship for more than 175 years. The current red-brick Gothic style building was dedicated to the glory of God on May 20, 1888.

We are guided and inspired by our mission, our vision and our values. Our mission is to develop empowered and loving disciples of Christ, who as a church family are committed to sharing and caring for each other and those in our community and world.

Leader Bio:
Rev. Jacqui Foxall was inducted into Knox as part of the ministry team in the summer of 2009. In 2017, she was inducted again, this time as the sole minister.

Even before she was ordained, Jacqui served at a number of churches for over 10 years in the area of faith formation and Christian education for children, youth, and families. Learning and growing in faith has always been her passion, but doing so as part of a community has been the most life-giving aspect of her ministry.

Prior to graduating from Knox College (Toronto) with her Master of Divinity degree, Rev. Jacqui studied at the University of Waterloo, attaining her Bachelors in Honours Arts, double-majoring in Music and Religious Studies, with a specialization in Church Music and Worship. She studied voice and piano, and taught music theory lessons on the side. Believing she was destined to teach music for a living, Jacqui was bowled over the day she was asked: “Do you think you might be called to ministry?” The answer was yes. She hasn’t looked back since.

As the “Teaching Elder” (minister) at Knox Oakville, Rev. Jacqui considers it a profound privilege and responsibility to equip the saints for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:12). Through the worship, work, and play of the church, Rev. Jacqui seeks to nurture a passion to know God, and participate in the mission of God in the world. This means helping us discover again and again what it means to be a community of grace-sustained image-bearers of the Creator, sent out into a broken world that’s just waiting to be made whole again.

The greatest gift of this life has been the privilege of raising her two wild daughters: Acadia and Piper. Jacqui loves a good book, a single malt scotch, and being barefoot as much as possible.

Dress code:

Some people dress up for church and some people dress more casually. Do what’s best for you. Please note, however, that we’re a scent free church. Some members of the congregation have scent-related allergies, and so we respectfully ask that you not apply perfume, aftershave or scented lotion prior to coming to worship. The sanctuary is also not air conditioned (at least not yet—our New Roads Project is aiming to fix that), so please dress in something that will be comfortable in warm summer weather. Our lower level is air conditioned (thanks to Phase One of the New Roads Project), so if you find it’s too warm in the sanctuary, you’re welcome to head to the downstairs hall. There’s a huge TV with the livestream of the service, comfy couches, and usually coffee, tea, or cool drinks.
