Our Pastor Todd Seeley
What do people in the church like best about you?
Folks in our church say that they like that I am relational, committed to Christ and His church, a hard worker, loves my family and each week teaches the Bible in way that is fresh, interesting, relevant, inspiring and motivates life change.
What makes up your family?
The best decision I ever made was to marry my wife DuAnne, on March 26, 1994. DuAnne is also a pastor and we minister as a team so that I can continue my priority of vision casting, teaching, shepherding and leadership development. She is a strategic leader and currently most of her time goes to church administration, outreach & marketing. Her passion is to help churches grow and become all God desires them to be as she develops multiplying leaders. DuAnne has been mentoring people since she was 17 and hired to mentor students at a juvenile delinquent home. She spent decades mentoring college students, church staff, and women in leadership. She is a conference and retreat speaker, leads Bible studies, and is Director at Bridge Christian Accademy and most recently Winfluence.info. In her spare time writes and offers coaching with LEAD Ministries.
We have an 18 year old son. Matthew is a freshman pre-law major at USM. We are grateful he was awarded the highest monetary scholarship in his 2014 graduating class. He loves sports and was a starter on his high school basketball team. He enjoys time with family and friends. In his spare time he works at Nike.
Our 16 year old son is Aaron. He also likes sports and plays on his high school basketball team. Aaron plays the violin. He is quickly becoming an expert on finance, investing and politics including foreign affairs. Aaron enjoys hanging out with family and friends. He loves to travel but also enjoys being at home. Aaron would like to attend Auburn University.
Where did you grow up?
I was born in Quincy, Illinois. A few short years later moved a couple hours north to a small town south of Chicago. As a kid I played baseball, football and rode my bike all over town. I walked to school every day from K5-12th uphill in the snow and then moved to San Diego to attend San Diego State University, where I just walked uphill.
How did you become a Christian?
When I was in college I worked for a year in a shoe store. The same week I started, a manager was moved in from another store and who would share the Gospel with me; and for the first time I transferred my trust from myself to Jesus. I was followed up and discipled through Campus Crusade for Christ and Skyline Wesleyan Church.
What is your ministry experience prior to MSWC?
For 11 years I was involved in ministry at Skyline Wesleyan Church under Dr. John Maxwell. It was in a seminary class at Skyline that I first met DuAnne. After several years in the business world I surrendered to the call to full time ministry and served on staff with The Navigators, served as a church consultant, associate pastor, church planting and senior pastor and then worked as founding president of LEAD Ministries.
What is playing on your iPod these days?
I'm a huge fan of 80's alternative, smooth jazz and Christmas music. I also like Hillsong, Vineyard UK, Switchfoot, Toby Mac and the world's greatest band... U2.
What is your favorite food?
I like so many kinds of food. However, I don't eat beef, pork or snail, but will eat sushi. My favorite food is Italian, Mexican and Chinese.
What is your favorite movie?
That is difficult to answer. Probably The Sound of Music is one of my top movies. Christmas Vacation (the edited for tv version) is a favorite, The Ultimate Gift, The Blind Side, as well as the critically acclaimed, What About Bob? I also like SciFi but I don't get to watch those too often.
What do you do for fun?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I like going to the beach, golf, reading, playing ball with my boys, cooking and watching sports. Especially Redskins football and Cubs baseball (when they're winning).
One thing people may not know about you?
I have always loved roller coasters and I have bungee jumped without having to change my pants.
What about MSWC gets you excited?
Seeing lives transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
