Who we are
Memorial United Church, Clarenville is a congregation within the Clarenville-Deep Bight Pastoral Charge in the Newfoundland and Labrador Conference of the United Church of Canada.
Memorial has approximately 300 households under its pastoral care. The church itself has a seating capacity of 350. The choir, organ, piano, communion table, pulpit, and lectern are on a raised area. A sound booth at the back of the church provides control of the new audio system. The annex of the church holds a joint choir/meeting room office, washrooms, and playroom. The Church Hall (basement) has a kitchen, a wheelchair accessible washroom,a stage area, and a large room for Sunday School, dinners, and other functions. It can be reached from both the annex and the narthex.
Sunday School takes place during the 11:00 A.M. service. The Senior Choir sings at most church services with the men's Choir and Handbell choir also providing music at other times. Communion is observed regularly. We presently have a United Church Women's Group (UCW), Men's Fellowship (UCMF) as well as many other church groups.
The church sanctuary is wheel chair accessible as is the church hall, located in the basement of the church, through a newly installed wheel chair lift.
