Who we are
Messiah Community Church is a nondenominational multicultural community of believers that believes church ought to be a relational experience between the Lord and the individual, and the other people in the pew. Therefore, we call ourselves a relational church. Our emphasis in teaching and preaching is in the development of relationships.
The principal relationship that needs to be developed is with Christ Jesus through the Holy Ghost. This is a relationship that cannot be dependent upon the personality of the pastor or the church. It must be developed by the individual believer who is responsible for working out their own salvation with fear and trembling. Church leadership is responsible for teaching and encouraging. The 2nd needful relationship is between the believers in the pew. This is why we believe in smaller, community-based churches. One of our goals is to develop churches in local neighborhoods led by pastors and other leaders who live in the neighborhood. We hope our churches will become hubs of neighborhood activity, including sports sponsorship, scouting, mens and ladies clubs, and active relevant youth groups. The goal being to be a major influence in the community for the cause of Christ.
The Scriptures are inerrant in their original form. However, due to the doctrinal slants of many of the English translations, we encourage individual believers to study the Word to show themselves approved, as workmen that need not be ashamed. Rightly dividing the Word of truth. Members cannot rely upon their membership or their pastor for their spirituality. They must develop their own relationship with Christ and their own understanding of the Word. The leadership of the church is here to teach and develop the skills necessary for believers to understand and comprehend the Scriptures.
At Messiah Community Church we believe in the spirit filled experience. Members are encouraged to exercise their spiritual gift as given according to Romans 12. They are also encouraged to believe for the manifestations of the Spirit as discussed in 1st Corinthians 12, 13 and 14. These manifestations should take place not just in the celebration times at "church" but also as the Spirit brings them in the individual daily lives of the believer to help them as they lead people to Christ.
A person's church experience should bring them closer in relationship to the Almighty and to the other people that they meet in the pew. Church should be a place where people are healed not hurt, lifted up not let down, and strengthened in faith not developed in religion. Our teaching is meant to develop mature believers who can take a punch both from the devil himself or their neighbor in the pew. We live our lives by grace and with grace being ever mindful of the mercy of God.
Our pastors have a heart for people. Messiah Community began 10 years ago with the vision for church to be a place that was pure in doctrine, accurate in teaching, a hospital for healing, open to free worship, and for those who would be willing to shun religion in favor of relationship. We have remained true to our call and invite all who desire to have an experience with the Lord to come and stay. If you feel disenfranchised by your denomination or "The Church", we understand and have been there, this is the place for you to find community.
