Who we are
Mission of Love Charities, Inc. (MOLC), is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) human services organization located in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and serving the Washington metropolitan area. MOLC is dedicated to supporting underprivileged and impoverished individuals and families by providing services designed for short-term and crisis needs, and programs that provide training to develop skills for long-term stability and growth.
Services are provided under the organization’s Basic Needs and Workforce Development/Life Skills programs. MOLC has served more than 329,545 disadvantaged individuals and families since its inception in 1991. Seventy percent of clients served live in Prince George’s County and other jurisdictions in Maryland, 25% are from the District of Columbia and 5%live in Northern Virginia.
What We Do
MOLC has been helping people and changing lives since 1992. We provide free services to needy individuals and families in the Washington metropolitan area through our Basic Needs and Workforce Development/Life Skills programs. Since inception, we have served more than 329,000 disadvantaged citizens in Prince George’s County and surrounding communities.
Basic Needs
MOLC helps individuals and families stretch their limited incomes by providing donated furniture, clothing, household amenities and food. During intake, MOLC assesses client needs and makes necessary referrals to resources in the community.
Each year, MOLC also seeks donations of school supplies and backpacks, which are given to youth in need during the annual Back-to-School Community Event.
During Thanksgiving and Christmas, MOLC solicits food and toys to make the holidays special for those in need.
Workforce Development/Life Skills
MOLC, in partnership with Giant Food, uses an evidenced-based curriculum to provide employment training for unemployed and/or hard-to-place individuals. Training includes career planning, interpersonal relations, customer service, basic work skills, resume and job application preparation, interview preparation, and life skills.
Participants completing the program are offered an interview with Giant Food and other employers. Participants hired (97% of graduates) receive support for up to six months to ensure success.
