Who we are
Mount Zion United Church Is:
Compassionate - a church with concerns for the community around us, and for the world in which we live. Outreach, both spiritual and charitable, is a positive part of who we are, and what we strive to be as a church. The Mount Zion community offers a place where people can: worship God, learn about Christ, and enjoy fellowship.
Traditional - tradition is important at Mount Zion in terms of worship, our strong focus on music and activities ranging from coffee hour after Sunday worship to enthusiastic family nights to our famous roast beef dinners. Honouring our traditions does not, however, indicate a reluctance to change as contemporary music, worship and activities are blended in our church.
Resilient - having roots in the community as far back as 1852, adapting and evolving over decades and many difficult times, and surviving three lightning strikes to the current building gives some sense of the faith, dedication and real resilience of the Mount Zion community.
Engaged - in the church, with its members and the wider community. Always willing to lend a hand in the most positive fashion wherever possible and whenever needed.

Mount Zion United Church London Service Times
Worship Sunday 10.30 am
Sunday School & Nursery
Sunday 10.30 am
Fellowship & Coffee Hour
Sunday 11.30 am
Our worship at Mount Zion United Church is dynamic, energizing and Spirit filled. Why? Because each service is centred on the Bible.
Our worship always involves speaking to relevant spiritual matters for the day and includes pastoral prayers for our community and our congregation. Blessed with music from the Voices United and More Voices hymnals we sing hymns that range from traditional to contemporary. During worship, Sunday School is offered as well as Nursery. Copies of the sermon are available during the service.
The Sacrament of the Lord’s supper is offered five times a year.
Each Sunday, the congregation at Mount Zion United Church carry the glow of fellowship into the Parlour for conversation and refreshments following worship.
Worshippers often say they are very moved during our services - that’s the Holy Spirit at work, meeting us in worship. Come and join us!

Mount Zion United Church History
The lovely church with its staggered, peaked roof was built in 1963. The high, vaulted celings of the sanctuary feature huge wooden beams arching from the floor to the peaks of the roof. Lights nestled among the beams flood the area with a gentle glow. Beautiful, cut-stone walls with recessed coloured window panels compliment and ground the airy sanctuary space.
The Mount Zion history goes back much farther than 1963. Our congregation is the amalgamation of what were then the four-year-old Woodland Church, and the 146-year-old Brick Street Church. The Brick Street congregation was formed in 1816, and the original church property and cemetery were purchased in 1851 for five shillings. We still maintain the Brick Street Cemetery which is located on the south side of Commissioners Road near Topping Lane.
The newly-formed Kensal Park United Church started services in 1959, and a year later it was renamed Woodland United Church. In 1962, the site of the present church was chosen, and in November 1963, our church was officially opened as Mount Zion United Church.
