Who we are
Newtown Congregational Church (NCC) is a Christ-centered Protestant community that has served as a spiritual center for the Newtown, Connecticut area for over 300 years. Our congregation thrives because we commit to welcoming all people into our membership.
We understand that as part of our faith Christ expects us to "love our neighbor". We realize and embrace "our neighbor" as anyone we have the opportunity to come in contact with or can affect the life of.
We embrace people at any point in their faith journey and affirm each person's freedom to pursue God's unique calling. We celebrate God's inclusive welcome at Christ's Communion Table and affirm that full and equal participation in the life and leadershp of our church is open to all.
We confess that we continue to discover how to more fully love one another as Jesus loves each one of us. In an often hurting and broken world, we also commit ourselves to the ongoing journey of learning and growing as a community of grace and reconciliation.
We understand the scriptures to be inspired by God. We know that God in Christ is calling the church and each of us to new ways of being and we are doing our best to figure out what exactly that means.
We are people who might have been brought up in a protestant tradition, other faith, or no faith. We respect and honor all faiths and believe in interfaith partnership and dialogue. We like to exchange ideas and opinions. We believe everyone should be free to wrestle with theology. We do our best to love each other, even when we disagree.
NCC Core Values:
We faithfully worship and serve God while seeking spiritual growth.
As a Christ-centered church, we commit ourselves to…
Extend God’s Compassion: Fervently extend God’s care and compassion beyond ourselves and our doors through ministry, outreach, and missions.
Build God’s Community: Purposefully build God’s community through welcoming and nurturing one another on our faith journey.
Celebrate God’s Generosity: Affirm and celebrate God’s generosity through inspired giving and active involvement.
Embrace God’s Diversity: Respectfully honor every individual and each person’s freedom to pursue God’s unique calling.

Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
