Who we are
At Nittany Baptist Church we’re interested in glorifying our Lord by conducting what has been termed the Great Commission (Matt.28:19-20). In this we seek to evangelize the lost and edify the saved not primarily by building numerous programs in the local church for people but by building up people through programs in the local church FOR God. We are an INDEPENDENT church (no denominational ties or politics). We are FUNDAMENTAL (we adhere to the fundamentals of the Christian faith). And, WE ARE JUST TWO MILES FROM PENN STATE’S CAMPUS !!! Pastor Jody Reese is the Senior Pastor and founder. He was saved through reading a gospel tract and went on after graduating from a secular college to attend and graduate from both a Christian college and seminary receiving a bachelor’s degree in Pastorology from Indiana Baptist College and a Master of Divinity degree from Calvary Baptist Theological Seminary.
Mrs. Reese also received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Indiana Baptist and has taught and worked in various administrative capacities in which the Lord has used her to help be a blessing to her husband and the ministry.

Dress code:
We have no dress code other than you should remember Who it is you are coming to worship. Some men come in suit and ties, some women in dresses or skirts, others may dress a little more casual. Either way we’re glad when folks come to join us to worship our Lord. The most important thing is to have your heart prepared to engage in worship !
Children and Youth Activities
Under 12s:
We offer Kids4Truth Clubs for ages 4-11 and Bible study and prayer for teens and adults. The Kids4Truth Club is a nationally known program to disciple youngsters in the Word of God. It not only teaches children a comprehensive program of Bible doctrine and teaches them how to defend and stand on their faith !
This is so vital in a time when youth are the focus of indoctrination in ideas that are anything but scriptural ! The Club is staffed by our folks who love children and themselves have sat under the teaching of the Word for years. They are eager to deposit it into the lives of our precious young ones ! (this program is on hold due to the Chinese virus).

Nittany Baptist Church History
The church officially began in the late 1980’s as a church plant through Calvary Baptist Church in Lansdale, PA. Pastor Jody Reese, upon graduating from the Calvary Baptist Seminary in Lansdale, started the church with a handful of folks in the town of Boalsburg (just two miles from State College) with a burden for people in the area and a desire to also reach out to people coming to Penn State from all over the world.
By the late 90’s God had provided the opportunity to purchase some land and erect our first building in 2001, a log cabin church between the towns of Potters Mills and State College. Since its inception, hundreds of people have been saved through the ministry and grown in the faith and several have went on to Christian colleges and seminaries. Two other churches have been planted by men who have been saved through our ministry.
We rejoice in what God has done in a couple of decades and look forward to what God will do through us in the future as He allows.
In the fall of 2015 we voted as a church to relocate closer to the State College area and Penn State University even though we have owned our own building. We have done this as a church, willing to give up a building to reach souls for Christ for that is to be a church’s mission ! We’re currently back in the State College area now at Heritage Run, 3939 S.Atherton St. Join us in our mission for the Lord !! We’re still a small church, to be honest, but have a big heart. You will not find huge numbers or fancy programs but you wil find folks who simply love the Lord !!!
