Who we are
Mission Statement
In this body of believers, we believe the Bible to be the Word of God, inerrant, and divinely inspired, and our true guide for faith and practice We believe that every Christian has supreme worth and dignity and capable of responding to God on an individual basis. We also believe that faith and repentance are essential to personal salvation.
We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, our Lord and Savior, the miracles of the Bible, the healing power of God, and the eternal security of the believer. We believe and practice baptism by immersion. We believe that believers should express their love for, and faith in Jesus Christ through the Lord’s Supper.

Oakland Baptist Church History
Oakland Baptist Church moved to its current location at 118 Wright Parkway, Fort Walton Beach after operating on the Mary Esther cutoff from 1962 until 2000. In 1962 it was organized as a mission from the Ocean City Baptist Church by 15 families who started meeting in a small dwelling led by Pastor Lewis Griner. The Oakland Baptist Mission stayed under the watch care of Ocean City Baptist Church until 1967, when it was formally constituted as Oakland Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Danny Burke.
In December 1997 the church bought land on 118 Wright Parkway from Smith radio Incorporated of Huntsville, Alabama.
The current Pastor Marty McLean leads the church, a Southern Baptist congregation, which is affiliated with the Choctaw Baptist Association and the Florida Baptist Convention.
