Who we are
Welcome to OLPH
Whether you are visiting from another parish, another city, renewing your faith after an absence or just considering to return home to the Catholic Church, we are pleased to have you visit us. We also hope you will be able to come and worship with us.
Hopefully you will find our parish a source of spiritual comfort and inspiration.
The church is open on Monday to Friday from 8:30 - 3:30 with daily mass at 12:10 p.m. (rosary at 11:50 a.m.). Masses are at 5 p.m. on Saturday and 9:30, 11:00 and 4:00 on Sunday. Confession is heard on Saturday between 4:15 and 4:45 or by appointment.
If your absence has been for a while, you may find some things have changed during the celebration of Mass as well as Holy Days of Obligation. While all Catholics are obliged to attend Mass on Sundays, there are now just two additional Holy Days of Obligation in Canada – Dec. 25 (Christmas Day) and Jan. 1 (Feast of Mary, Mother of God).
The wording of some of the prayers has changed but by following the Mass using the Sunday Missals found in the pews, you will feel “right at home”.
You will discover in-depth information on prayer, spirituality, sacraments and ministries as well as details about our parish – staff biography, parish history, photos from parish events, etc. You will also discover links to many wonderful Catholic/Christian sites and organizations.
Thank you for visiting with us – whether in the church itself or on our web site. We hope you have enjoyed your visit and that you will join us again soon.

Leader Bio:
Born in 1947 and raised in Toronto. Attended Neil McNeil High School and St. Augustine's Seminary. Ordained to the deaconate in 1972 and to the priesthood in 1974 and assigned to St. Mary of the People Parish in Oshawa from 1972 to 1979. Went away for studies from 1979 to 1983 to become a Teaching Supervisor in Clinical Pastoral Education so that he might be able to train others for ministry. Returned to the Archdiocese in 1983 and was asked to establish the Office of Lay Ministry for the Archdiocese. In 1994 the office expanded and became the Office of Lay Ministry and Institutional Chaplaincy. In 1999 the office expanded again with the mandate to initiate Volunteer Screening in all the parishes of the Archdiocese. Monsignor Hannah continued as Director of that Office until 2003 when he was reassigned as pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in 2002.

Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Parish History
Our Lady of Perpetual Help is a Roman Catholic church serving the mid-town area of Toronto. The church is located at 78 Clifton Road (St. Clair East - Mt. Pleasant area). The parish boundaries are roughly Davisville Avenue on the north, Crescent Road on the south (next to Rosedale subway station), Bayview Avenue on the east and Avenue Road on the west side.
OLPH parish was established in February 1923 with Fr. Francis Pennylegion as the first pastor. The church building was opened and blessed by Archbishop Neil McNeil in June 1930. The present pastor is Msgr. James Hannah who took over as the eighth pastor of OLPH in July 2002. Read more about this in Parish History.
We have shared the same church building with our "sister" church, the Annunciation Byzantine Romanian Catholic Mission (of the Eastern Rite) since October 2001. As of March 2013, their pastor is Fr. Ionel Maier with the former pastor, Fr. Emil Jude working as a Weekend Assistant. They celebrate Sunday Mass at 12:30 pm. Much more detailed information on the above web page.
OLPH is a member of the Churches-on-the-Hill Ministerial, an historical ecumenical association of the churches in the Yonge-St. Clair area. The churches jointly sponsor several events such as the annual canned food drive, World Day of Prayer and the Good Friday walk. It comprises of nine churches:
• Calvin Presbyterian
• Christ Church Deer Park Anglica
• Deer Park United Church
• Grace Church on-the-Hill Anglican
• Holy Rosary Catholic Church
• OLPH Catholic Church
• St. John's Latvian Lutheran Church
• Timothy Eaton Memorial Church
• Yorkminster Park Baptist Church
