Who we are
Welcome!
Palm Lake Christian Church is a place for EVERYONE who seeks a deeper relationship with God. It is a place for ALL who desire a connection and sense of community with other believers.
Each Sunday we gather about the Lord’s Table and share in remembrance of Jesus Christ. We sing praises to God, we spend time in prayer, and we reflect on God’s written Word.
Together, we journey. Together, we grow. Together we serve. YOU are welcome to join us!
Our mission is summed up in three words: WORSHIP, WITNESS, and WELCOME. We continually look for new and exciting ways to do all three. Come and be a part of this ministry!
Our hope is that this website will introduce us and our church to you in such a way that once you check us out here, you will come and check us out in person. We will be looking for you!
So, browse around this site. Listen to a sermon recording or two. Read our newsletter. Become acquainted with our staff, and follow some links to the larger ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Then, make your plans to worship with us next Sunday!
There is a place for YOU at Palm Lake Christian Church!
See you soon!

Quote of the Day
John 15:16
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Palm Lake Christian Church History
Our History
Palm Lake Christian Church was born of foresight by the Late Roy Bishop who along with other members of Mirror Lake Christian Church, formerly located in downtown St. Petersburg, purchased the plot of ground at 5401 22nd Ave North. Mr. Bishop had a vision in the 1950's that St. Petersburg would grow to the west and that a large population of people would reside in that area known as Seminole, Bay Pines, and in the area west of 49th Street.
Initially the 10 acres of land that formerly was a chicken farm had a small block home and a chicken coop building with a corrugated tin roof and wooden floor. The vision developed and on May 18, 1958 a group of 94 members were commissioned in a special service at Mirror Lake Christian Church and then departed to form a new church which was named Palm Lake Christian Church. The name was chosen, in a contest, by Harold Malone. The property on 22nd Avenue North had a small lake on it and 22nd Avenue stopped at 53rd Street North. At that time there were no palm trees on the property but that changed quickly as members donated them to surround the lake.
Those 94 charter members grew in number and through the love of Christ and community became a church with over 700 members.
