Who we are
Our congregation is comprised of people from all over Sevier County and beyond. Our worship services are "come as you are," with people from varied backgrounds all worshipping together in love and unity. We are a multi-generational church, so before we sing the newest song that all of our younger folks will know, we might cut loose with an older, foot-stomping, hand-clapping song that our older folks know and enjoy!
We love children of all ages -- infants, toddlers, pre-school age and students. We try to be led by the Holy Spirit in our worship services, and try to place Jesus Christ at the center of everything we say and do. In short, our desire is to connect with you, and then get all of us connected to God!
Our desire is to be used by God to reach our surrounding community with the love of Christ. Our goal is for each person in our congregation to learn how to completely yield to Jesus so that they can be used as an instrument of love in reaching others. We believe that God has a special plan and purpose for everyone!
We want to see as many people as possible in our area introduced to Jesus, and then be part of helping people to grow and mature in their faith. We also want to be part of God's amazing plan around the world, reaching out to different tribes, peoples, languages, and ethnic groups. We love everybody, and want to see everyone reached with God's love!

Leader Bio:
Philip and Denise Morris came to the Parkway Church of God pastorate in 2002. They met at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee and, after both had graduated, got married on July 25, 1987. They have two children. John graduated from Lee University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications. Hope graduated as a valedictorian from Sevier County High School and currently attends Lee University.
Philip is the son of Philip and Mary Morris of Salisbury, Maryland. Philip’s parents have extensive ministry background as teachers, pastors, administrators, and missionary educators, so Philip is both a “preacher’s kid” and a “missionary kid.” He honors his parents and appreciates the wonderful Christian heritage he has received from his parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents.
Born in Cleveland, Tennessee, Philip C. Morris, Jr. is also a graduate of Pentecostal Theological Seminary located in Cleveland, Tennessee. He was a staff minister at Westmore Church of God in Cleveland, Tennessee (1989-1996) and the founding pastor of Crossroads Church of God in Fruitland, Maryland (1996-2002) before coming to Parkway. He also currently serves as the Tennessee State Representative for Church of God Ministry to Israel and is a member of the Tennessee Church of God World Missions Board.
Credentialed as an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God (Cleveland, TN), Philip is also a member of the Iris B. Vest Spirit Care Center Advisory Board. “Our congregation’s new location gives us unprecedented potential for sharing God’s love with our community! We are so thankful for this provision!”
Denise leads the area of ministry at Parkway known as “Worship & the Arts,” which includes leading and organizing our praise and worship leaders and teams, special music, the sanctuary choir, the drama ministry, etc. -- She has a lot of help from a lot of anointed and talented people in each area of ministry! Denise draws on many years of church music-ministry experience and an extensive background as a music and drama teacher in multiple schools.

Parkway Church of God History
On Tuesday, August 7, 1962 our first pastor, Robert Humbertson, officially organized the Park Road Church of God congregation with 107 members on the campus of the Church of God Smoky Mountain Children's Home in Sevierville, Tennessee. The new congregation soon built a church facility on the Children’s Home campus with the address of 440 Parkway, which is how our congregation came to be known as “Parkway Church of God.” Initially, the congregation was almost exclusively comprised of children from the Home and personnel working at the Home.
As years went by, more and more people from the surrounding community also became involved in the life of our congregation. On Friday, May 9, 2008 our congregation purchased a church property just across the river from the Children’s Home campus. This property had formerly been owned by Evergreen Church (PCA) and had been sold to New Hope Church of God. The New Hope congregation graciously sold us this property located at 661 Parkway for a greatly reduced price.
In August of 2012, our congregation celebrated fifty years of ministry! To God be the glory! As we celebrated our heritage, we also looked forward to the future that we knew God had for our congregation in coming years, but we did not realize where the Lord would be taking us next.
On Thursday, December 12, 2013 our congregation signed a lease/purchase agreement with Ron and Betty Ogle to purchase the church property located at 1103 Dolly Parton Parkway in Sevierville. This church facility was originally built by New Hope Church of God and was later purchased by Evergreen Church (PCA) before being sold to the Ogles. The Parkway congregation had their first service at the new location on Sunday, February 23, 2014!
The purchase of this new property was completed on December 30, 2014 and dedicated to the Lord at our Dedication Celebration on April 26, 2015!
