Leader Bio:
My parents named me Alvin Lloyd, and I am a native of the inner city of Chicago’s Westside. My American heritage roots sprang from the Mississippi Delta. God called me to preach the true Gospel of Jesus in 1979. I served as interim pastor of a few local Christian assemblies of southern Illinois and pastored one of these congregations named New Zion of Hodge Park, Illinois from 1980 until 1983.
I then joined the United States Army with aspirations of becoming a military chaplain. After successfully completing my tour of duty as a medical specialist, achieving the distinguished Army Commendation Medal, I received an honorable military discharge, in 1987. While working for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department as a detention officer, I was commissioned by God to serve as the 7th pastor of the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church of Chicago.
After completing my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Dallas, I completed two master degrees from the Trinity Evangelical Divinity School of (TEDS) of Deerfield, Illinois. After this, I was blessed by God to complete doctoral studies and I received a doctorate degree from TEDS.
As a pastor, I have served as a church development consultant with the Chicago Metropolitan Baptist Association (CMBA) and as a vice president of the Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship of Chicago. God allowed me to found Pure Truth Seekers (PTS), a training ministry purposed to equip and edify serious truth-seekers to pursue only the purest truth that our Creator is willing to reveal (Deuteronomy 29:29).
I am the loving husband of Linda, a graduate of Illinois State University, former flight attendant, and successful entrepreneur specializing in major corporations consultation. Linda currently serves Jesus by making Christian disciples of willing youth and women. Al and Linda are parents to Matthew, Robert and Haley.
They have extensively traveled around the world to places that include the United States, Europe, the Middle East, Canada, and the Caribbean. Al has served as a chaplain for some of Chicago’s hospitals. He is published author, and a cousin of late Soul Stirrer and soul music pioneer Sam Cooke.
