Who we are

We exist to glorify God and equip believers by sharing the life-changing good news of Jesus Christ.

We believe that God created each of us to live in community, to have a relationship with Him and with others who cross our paths each day. If you have never seen Christ for who He is, we would like to introduce you. If you know Him well, we will strive to help you know Him more through discipleship in the Word. Our church is a mult-generational, multi-cultural community in the heart of the metroplex that desires to continue looking more like Christ's church, reflecting and celebrating the many diverse cultures, music styles, heritages, and people groups that make this city and state such a beautiful and unique place to live.

For over 100 years, God has allowed Sagamore Baptist Church to share Christ with the Fort Worth and Arlington communities, building His kingdom through evangelism and discipleship. If you were once familiar with Sagamore Hill, we invite you to see what God is doing in our fellowship today. If you don't have a church, we would like you to consider us as your home until you find where God desires you to be. When you visit with us, we'll be excited to meet you and greet you with open hearts.

Sagamore Baptist Church Fort Worth Service Times

Sunday Morning Bible Fellowship | 9:00AM Children, Students, and Adults meet in this hour to study God's Word, connect with others, and prayer for one another. If it's your first time coming, please let the greeters know; they will be more than happy to direct you to the various age-based classes.

Sunday Morning Service | 10:30AM Presents a Scripturally-based, Spirit-led blended music style. We desire to share in worshipping our Lord together with ageless truths, through hymns that tell about God as well as praise music that speaks directly to God. Combining the modern avenues of lighting and media with the God-given talents of our worship leaders, the music helps the listener focus on Jesus Christ, preparing them for the message, delivered passionately for today's truth-seeking audience.

Sunday Evening Community Groups | 5:00PM Groups typically meet off campus in people's homes, for studying the Word, sharing a meal, building community, and praying for each other. Groups are made up of 8 to 16 people. Childcare is available at the church, beginning at 5:15pm. For more info on groups and joining, please visit the FAQ section.

Wednesday Evening Service | 6:30PM Our adults spend Wednesday evenings focusing on God through Bible study and prayer —we currently are studying the minor prophets. Students join in a time of worship with Pastor Louis, and children have Music + Missions with Pastor Philip and Ms. Brandi.

Sagamore Baptist Church History

In October of 1910, when thirteen people gathered in the old Sagamore school building, something new began: a church in East Fort Worth was born. At the time, the church was named Edgwood Baptist Church and was led under the pastoral leadership of T.H. Sturgis. In May of 1915, the church changed its name to Stop Six Baptist Church, due to it's proximity to the train station.

In 1920, the church purchased a property at 4400 Panola, Fort Worth, Texas, and once again changed their name, to Sagamore Hill Baptist Church. Over the next fifty-five years, the church saw continued growth in both attendance as well as building expansions, mostly under the leadership of Pastor Fred Swank. From 1933 to 1975, he took the church from 200 members to a few thousand and was instrumental in helping over 100 young men commit their lives to ministry. He spent his time loving life and people, "Calling out the called."

From the 1970s to today, Sagamore has seen a great many church leaders come from its youth programs in the DFW metroplex as well as church plants that are alive and active today. We praise God for doing His work through His people. In 1993, the Women's Choice Resource Center was planted on Rand Street in Fort Worth, as a ministry of Sagamore Baptist Church. This local resource for the community continues to help women and children in the East Fort Worth area, giving them a friendship, education, and the message of the gospel to help them as they grow their families. Many have come to know Christ through the ministry.

In 2005, the church to relocated and purchased a property on Dottie Lynn Parkway in Fort Worth. The church name was once more modified, dropping the Hill to create the current name, Sagamore Baptist Church. The first service at its current location on Dottie Lynn Parkway was held on Sunday, June 22, 2008. Sagamore Baptist Church strives to live out the future the same way it lived out the past – answering Christ's call to reach the lost and loving all people through His grace.
