Who we are
"We belong to a worshipping community, gathered in fellowship around Jesus, enabled by the Spirit,to reach out into God’s world."
Jesus calls us to love God and our neighbours, and so we seek concrete and meaningful ways to do this. Just as our weekly worship feeds and nurtures us, we aim to feed and nurture others. From September to December many "feed" our World Vision piggy bank and from that, we buy livestock and necessities for families and communities abroad. During Advent, shoeboxes are filled with gifts for the seafarers who visit the Port of Halifax over the holidays. Gifts for children and adults are added to the Christmas Hampers distributed by Holy Trinity-Emmanuel Church. On "Undy Sunday" our St. Nicholas Tree is adorned with adult-sized socks, mitts, and other warm clothing items for our city's homeless. Offerings given during Lent, and throughout the year, support the life-giving work of our international relief and development fund. Year-long donations of food assist those in emergency situations. Our monthly Communion services at Oakwood and the Nova Scotia Hospital feed many spiritually. All through the year, all these opportunities for work and fellowship deepen our sense of ministry and compassion, and express our gratitude for all God’s goodness.
