Who we are
What we believe
The Anglican Church has its roots in the Reformation of the 1500s. So historically, The Book of Common Prayer (1662) and the Thirty Nine Articles of Religion (1562) have been the agreed standard of doctrine and worship. Like the people who drafted these documents, we who gather at St. Alban’s, sit under the authority of God’s word. The following provides a summary of what we believe.
The divine inspiration of Holy Scripture as originally given and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
The unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead.
The universal sinfulness and guilt of humanity since the fall, rendering men and women subject to God’s wrath and condemnation.
The conception of Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit and his birth by the Virgin Mary.
Redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only though the sacrificial death, as our representative and substitute, of Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God.
The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
The necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit to make the death of Christ effective in the individual sinner, granting him or her repentance towards God, and faith in Jesus Christ.
The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer.
The expectation of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

St Alban's Church History
Our History
St Albans Anglican Church Largs Bay was established in October 1902 as a church plant from St Bedes Semaphore. In 1905 land was bought in Musgrave Street, Largs Bay and a church dedicated there the following year. In 1916 St Albans was able to become an independent congregation from St Bedes. In 1961, the congregation moved to its current location in Jetty Rd. During it’s history, St Albans has has 15 senior ministers, 4 of whom have died whilst in office!
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the congregation was near to closing its doors. In 1993 the Rev. Andrew Klynsmith was appointed part time. Through faithful preaching of the God’s word, the congregation began to regrow.
From 2004, Rev David Wright served the people in leadership until September 2011. Following, Rev Bob George became an interim pastor, however this role changed to being the parish’s interregnum pastor. During this phase St Alban’s moved into a network team ministry model which included Croydon. Bishop Tim Harris leads this team and formally is Parish Priest at Largs Bay and Croydon. At the beginning of 2014 Rev. Simon Hill joined the pastoral team, with his focus being serving with the people at Largs Bay.
