Catholic Community of St. Francis Xavier History

In 1988, anticipating growth in the north Baltimore County areas, St. Joseph’s Church in Cockeysville, Maryland sought approval from Archbishop Borders to form a Roman Catholic Mass station in the area hotel ballrooms for the weekend liturgy.

Once interest was established, the Catholic Community of Hunt Valley was formed and began celebrating the liturgy in the lower level of Executive Plaza I. In 1992, guided by the inspirited leadership of our first pastor, Fr. Thomas Donellan, the Catholic Community of St. Francis Xavier was incorporated as a parish.

In January 1998, the parish community moved to our new home at Serenity Farms on Cuba Road. The parish, of about 700 families, continues to flourish and grow. Our parish vision is to be a life-giving faith community that proclaims the Good News of Jesus Christ. This vision is sustained on the basis of a unique set of practices or ‘charisms’. We are committed to the mission of Jesus Christ, to helping the members of our community and others in need, to working together, to welcoming new members, and to genuinely proclaiming our faith with enthusiasm.

Upholding these priorities and maintaining the health and vitality of our parish depend upon the willingness of every member to contribute of their time, talent, and treasure according to one’s abilities.
