Who we are
The Family of Catholic Parishes at the Rising of the Sun
(serving Alcona and southern Alpena counties)
From the rising of the sun to its setting to You, Almighty God all honor and glory (Ps 113,3)
MISSION STATEMENT OF OUR FAMILY OF PARISHES
We, the family of the four parishes serving Alcona and southern Alpena counties, see as our mission to be a catalyst, nuture, and support our own members and our neighbors in responding to God's invitation to be in a loving and caring relationship with Him, and all others: developing, living out and celebrating those relationships.
We strive to do this:
--Through our efforts to grasp, live out, and model Jesus' mind, heart, and way of life.
--Through our faithfulness in living out and giving public witness to our Catholic Faith and practices, especially the centrality of our weekly Sunday Eucharist and the Sacraments.
--By our reaching out in Jesus’ name to the troubled, abused, sick, and all in need.
--By modeling in our families, in our parishes and various communities how all should live in solidarity, peace, and love as children and family of God.
OUR DEAR HOMEBOUND
You are very precious to us. You still have a very important role in your parish. Your prayers and the offering of your suffering to Jesus for us are greatly appreciated. We are delighted to bring Holy Communion to you so that you can still share with us in our Sunday Mass and arrange for you to receive of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the SIck. Just let the parish office know.
CRYING BABIES AND FUSSY CHILDREN IN CHURCH
Children in church are the future of our parish. We welcome you. You are part of the family. Your parents never need to be embarrassed, fearing you are disturbing the rest of us. It is all just part of being a family. If we cannot accept you we cannot say we are pro-life. Your crying and fussing is a reminder of God's great love and a reminder to us to thank God for our own life and for you.
PROMISE TO PROTECT, PLEDGE TO HEAL
We are committed to protect children from abuse and to promote healing for all suffering from abuse. Victims of child abuse or neglect are encouraged to report the matters to their local office of the Department of Human Services. If allegations involve sexual misconduct of a minor by clergy or any parish staff or volunteer, even if it is in the past, individuals may call the diocese at 1-800-727-5147 ext 3534 or 989-705-3534.
