St Luke History

Eardley began as an outstation of Onslow with services held from 1854 to 1871 in a log schoolhouse in Upper Eardley near the site of the present St. Luke's. Steps were taken in 1864 for the construction of a church and land for a burial ground was set apart by Margaret Bolton, widow of the late John Warren McLean. In 1871, Mrs. McLean collected money, timber and shingles to build the church; however, it was another three years until the completion of St. Luke's Church, Eardley. St. Luke's is a part of the parish of Aylmer.
