St Mary's Congregational Church History

St Mary’s Hall Congregational church

Gloucester 1788 onwards

The Church was originally located in St Mary’s Square But after the redevelopment, of the the City the church was relocated to St Mary’s Street.

The Building was bought by Selina, Countess of Huntingdon, in 1788 for the Gloucester followers of George Whitefield, the famous 18th Century preacher the original name of the Church was St Mary’s Hall, it then move on to St Mary’s Congregational Hall and now we are know as St Mary’s Congregational Church, during the name changes we also were known as St Mary’s Congregational Church Hall, but we have always been true to our beliefs.

The Organ was saved from the Old building and was moved to the Current Build and is still in full working order. The organ we built by William Sweetland and was bought in 1882
