L’église anglicane Saint-Matthias est l’une des six églises construites à Fitch Bay dans les années 1800.
Elle a été construite en 1888 par les descendants des Loyalistes et d’autres protestants arrivés dans la région.
À la fin du XIXe siècle, le village était un centre politique, religieux, commercial et industriel dynamique.
Saint-Matthias a été conçu par l’entrepreneur local Nathan Beach dans le style d’une église de campagne typique, blanche en planches à clin.
Depuis plus de 130 ans l’église est au service de la communauté de Fitch Bay.
Des noms tels que Bachelder, Dallaire, Hamilton, Kimpton, Kingsland, Minor, Phaneuf, Sheldon, Shaw et Wharry sont inscrits sur des plaques à l’intérieur. Nombre de leurs descendants vivent encore dans la région.

St. Matthias Anglican Church is one of six churches built in Fitch Bay in the 1800s.
It was built in 1888 by descendants of the Loyalists and other Protestants who arrived in the area.
At the end of the 19th century, the village was a vibrant political, religious, commercial and industrial center.
St. Matthias was designed by local entrepreneur Nathan Beach in the style of a typical, white clapboard country church.
For over 130 years the church has served the community of Fitch Bay.
Names such as Bachelder, Dallaire, Hamilton, Kimpton, Kingsland, Minor, Phaneuf, Sheldon, Shaw and Wharry are inscribed on plaques inside. Many of their descendants still live in the area.
