Who we are
The parishioners of Saint Pius X Parish, called by Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit and by the will of the Father, are committed to ongoing growth as a family of faith. With the Eucharist as the center of our spirituality, we witness to the love of Christ by living the life of the Church in our families, fostering a spirit of unity, reaching out to the broader community and cultivating excellence in Catholic education. With prayer at the heart of all we do, we dedicate ourselves to making God’s work on earth our own.

St. Pius X Parish History
St. Pius X Parish was founded by Monsignor Joseph Jennings on June 20, 1954 in the Catholic Diocese (now Archdiocese) of Mobile in Mobile, Alabama. Ground was broken for a multipurpose building constructed to serve as the parish church and rectory, which it did for fourteen years. In 1957 St. Pius X School was established with over 500 students enrolled in grades K – 8.
The parish and school were established in the fast developing and rapidly growing area of the city known as “Wragg Swamp” whose beauty and potential, thankfully, didn’t remotely resemble its nomenclature. As the area grew, so did the number of families registered in the parish. The need for a new and larger church was recognized and in February of 1968 the present church was completed and dedicated. The original multipurpose structure, which had served as the church, now serves as an auditorium for the parish and a gymnasium for the school.
After years of the expansion of our city to the limits of its western boundaries, the parish has come to be centrally located in the business, shopping and residential district with easy access to interstate highways I-10 and I-65.We invite you to have a look at our web site to get a glimpse of the life and activity of this vibrant and traditional Catholic parish. You also have his open invitation to come and celebrate the Eucharist with our Family of Faith any time at one of our daily or weekend liturgies.
