Leader Bio:
Pastor Jay Miller is the son of Sterling and Jean Miller, the founding pastors of Word of Faith Family Church.
Since 1989, he has served in various ministries within the church. Then, in 1999, he became Associate Pastor to his father. In March 2002, Senior Pastor Sterling Miller passed the mantle to his son, Pastor Jay.
Pastor Jay and his wife, Tessy, firmly believe that the strength of a church is in the power of a God-ordained vision that exemplifies God’s love by reaching out to others. God has a plan, a purpose, and a destiny for each of our lives. Jesus came to give us life, and at that, life much more abundantly. Pastor Jay prayerfully encourages members of The Family Church, through the powerful Word of God, to know their purpose, fulfil their destiny, and bring glory to God. Pastor Jay and Tessy live in Lafayette with their five sons, Sterling, Regan, Jansen, Micah, and Britt.

TFC Kidz Ministries (Ages 0 – 5th Grade)
TFC Kidz is a ministry that is dedicated to ministering to children from birth through fifth grade. Our vision in TFC Kidz is to see 1 Timothy 4:12 come to pass in the lives of the kids that we minister to. The Scripture states, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” We believe that by presenting the Word of God to children in an exciting and fun way, we will lead them into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
TFC Kidz Nursery (Infant – 36 Months, Main TFC Building)
TFC Kidz Nursery ministers to children from ages 0-36 months old. In the nursery, babies will be cared for by trained staff members that are ready to love on and nurture each and every child that attends. The older toddlers have a short “Bible Story Time” as well as a “Song Time,” both of which are geared especially for them.
TFC Kidz Preschool (3 Years Old – K4, TFC Summit Building)
TFC Kidz Preschool ministers to children from ages 3-4 years old. Once a child turns three and is potty-trained, then he or she is promoted to TFC Kidz Preschool. This age group participates in praise and worship with TFC Kidz Elementary, and afterwards, the group splits into smaller groups for a “Snack Time” and a lesson that is customized just for their age. The three- and four-year-olds memorize Scriptures, and also, they do crafts.
TFC Kidz Elementary (K5 – 5th Grade, TFC Summit Building)
TFC Kidz Elementary ministers to school-age children from ages 5-12 years old. In every service, TFC Kidz Elementary has high-energy praise and worship, fun games, and an exciting message. It is structured a lot like what one might call “Big Church,” but the difference is that it is tailored just for them.

The Family Church History
“TWO-AND-A-HALF ACRES OF FAITH”
In 1973, Pastors Sterling and Jean Miller, with their two babies, sixty dollars in their pockets, and a burning desire for God in their hearts, came to Lafayette to build a church with a ministry for every member of the family. The first service recorded only 13 people in attendance. Not long afterwards, in 1974, we celebrated the opening of Lafayette Christian Academy, which started as a one-room facility.
Now, 35 years and a new century later, Pastors Jay and Tessy Miller have continued the journey with an ever-increasing congregation to its present membership of approximately 1,200 people! The school has grown from a one-room facility to a campus of over 700 students from K-4 through 12th grades. In July of 1999, we opened the doors to our new church facility, which seats over 2000 people, across the street from the original sanctuary. What started out as approximately 2.5 acres of land and a two-room building has now grown to 64 acres of land with new facilities, a gymnasium, a youth hall, and several other buildings… and we definitely aren’t done yet!
