Who we are
Launched on 15 February 2009, The Source is a church of ordinary people committed to working out what it means to follow Jesus Christ in our everyday lives. We believe the life transforming message of the Bible is the greatest news in the world, as relevant today as it has ever been; revealing The Source of hope and purpose for our lives. Our vision is to see lives changed, needs met and hope restored. Our style is informal, relaxed and contemporary with great music, multimedia, real life stories, fun, laughter and talks which help make sense of life. Children and teenagers enjoy their own groups either during or after the service. Drop in and join us. You'll be very welcome. We meet every Sunday at 5pm in Southfield School, Banbury Road, Brackley, NN13 6AU. Park at the school or in the nearby Waitrose Car Park.
FOUNDATION: Whilst we recognise we must give our very best for God, try as hard as we like, unless God is at the centre of all we do then we labour in vain. Therefore, under-pinning all we do is our foundation, our statement of intent, reminding us of our dependence on God and that detached from Him we can do nothing of any lasting value (John 15:5). Therefore we are committed to being:
Inspired and equipped by God’s word, the Bible (2 Tim 3:16) We believe the Bible is not a dry and dusty book, but a life-breathing, God inspired, guide-book for life which cuts through the superficial and gets right to the heart. Whether through Sunday teaching, small groups or personal devotions we are committed to finding out God’s plans and purposes for our lives and aligning ourselves with them.
Dependent on Him in prayer (Matt 6:7 - 13) Henri Nouwen said “To pray is to walk in the full light of God, and to say simply without holding back, ‘I am human and you are God.’ In a society which longs for independence we know if we are to achieve anything of any lasting value we must involve the creator of the universe in our plans and our lives. If He holds it all in his hands, we’d be mad not to.
Constantly reliant on the power of the Holy Spirit working in and through us (Acts 1: 8) As followers of Jesus Christ we have at our disposal all the resources of heaven in us. We will constantly and consistently draw on these resources to enable us to be who He’s called us to be and do what He’s called us to do.
HISTORY: Over the years, as Brackley has expanded, many Christians have moved to the town. One question consistent with many was “Why are we here and why now?”
In 2005, a small number of people began to meet to pray for the town and out of that grew a passion to see a new church established. Increasingly over the next few years God began to instill that same vision in a growing number of people from different backgrounds and walks of life, many of whom met at Banbury Community Church.
In July 2008 a small group began to explore if there was substance in what we felt. Over a few months of prayer and discussion the answer became obvious and in October 2008 the decision was taken to launch The Source. The first service was held in Brackley Town Hall on 15th February 2009 and due to numerical growth, a year later we moved to Southfield School.

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
