Who we are
A Small History of Walton Methodist Church
Originally Walton Methodist Church was located along Annett Road, but the gas board, at the time, wanted to extend their plant meaning that the church would have to be demolished. In the end this did happen and the gas board bought the old church and land for £700. A new church was then built in the current location in 1887 costing £350 just for the land.
Throughout the recent years Walton Methodist Church has undergone many changes, with a modern glass front being constructed to create a communal entrance and give the whole church a more welcoming feel from the outside. The main church has been redesigned, with the removal of the pipe organ.
The rear premises have also been refurbished in the last 10 years, resulting in a new centrally positioned kitchen with two new meeting rooms and toilet facilities, plus a glazed link to provide easy disabled access to the rear of the building.
With new ideas brewing, Walton Methodist Church is a very dynamic building and community.

Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?

Walton-on-Thames Methodist Church Walton-on-Thames Service Times
Morning Worship
At Walton Methodist church our Sunday worship starts at 10:00am, lasts for about an hour or so and is led by our minister, Rev Sydney Samuel Lake or preachers from other churches. Typically, our services include an all age talk, Bible readings, about five hymns or songs, prayers and a sermon. Children usually stay for about 15 minutes then go to Sunday School whilst the very young are in a Crèche throughout the service. Our music includes a mixture of traditional and modern hymns and songs led by our organist, or sometimes also by our music group Breeze.
Holy Communion
Once a month we have a service that includes a more formal part with the sharing of bread and wine. This is a celebration of the last supper that Jesus had with his disciples before he was crucified and rose triumphant from the dead. The invitation to take part is for all those who want to follow Jesus. During the sharing of the bread and wine there is also a provision, for those who seek it, for anointing with oil and prayers for healing.
All Age Worship
Once a month we have All Age Worship, which follows a similar pattern to other services except that it aims to be suitable for all ages. There is no Sunday School so the sermon is usually split into informal and more formal sections to make it suitable for all but the youngest children who remain in a Crèche .
