Who we are
We are a nondenominational church. We are an independent Church of Christ, patterned after the New Testament example where Christ is head of His Church. Where the bible speaks we speak, and where the bible is silent we are silent. We believe that there is only one true God that is the Creator of all things and that He exists in three forms...as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Woodard's Pond Church of Christ History
As it relates to the building, our church building history started as Woodards Pond School, which was erected prior to 1915. Sunday School and worship services for what would eventually become Woodards Pond Church of Christ, were first organized in the school building as local community members began meeting there on September 6, 1922. Woodards Pond School can be seen in the first photo of the building which was taken in 1934. Later in 1936, the Beaufort County School Board closed the school and bused the youth of the community to nearby Bath High School. Despite the closure and lack of use during the week, the community members continued to utilize the building for worship, so on April 10, 1939 Trustees J. C. Cutler, O. H. Cutler & E. H. Sheppard purchased the property from the Beaufort County School Board by entering the highest bid of $200. In the years that followed as the Church continued to grow, the decision was made to establish a permanent Church of Christ at Woodards Pond. On May 22, 1950 Trustees J. C. Cutler, C. W. Hamilton, Charlie Davenport, Demby Ward & N. A. Cutler signed the deed that ultimately conveyed the property to the newly organized Woodards Pond Church of Christ.
With the establishment of a permanent Church of Christ, later that same year (1950) a portion of the school was demolished and construction of the new building for Woodards Pond Church of Christ began. The new church was constructed around a portion of the existing school structure that remained. While some of the demolition materials were utilized from the old school, most of the new structure was built with lumber and labor donated by members of the new Church. During construction, worship services continued in the church yard under the nearby trees. In the years to follow, the building was finally completed and is what you see in the second photo which was taken in 1954.
Since that time there have been many structural improvements to the property to include the addition of a new fellowship hall, a new outdoor picnic area that included a shelter, garage and kitchen. Later there was the addition of a parsonage in 1963 followed by its demolition in 2017. Most recently the majority of the parking area has received a concrete surface with plans to concrete all parking areas.
More importantly, as it relates to the Body of Christ that worships at Woodards Pond, we have also been blessed and have seen significant growth and is healthy, thriving congregation. Attendance today is currently averaging in the 100-120 range for Sunday Morning Worship Service. The Body of Christ that worships at Woodards Pond is currently comprised of 93 families and 199 souls.
As part of the Body of Christ we seek to serve the Lord with great humility. We ALL acknowledge that we ALL are sinners. We ask God each day for his forgiveness for our sins and we strive to live in a manner that reflects Christ by loving our neighbors, loving our community and loving all of those in this lost world. We endeavor to share the Gospel of Christ through our actions and words, which includes giving of our time and treasure for the cause of Christ Jesus. Our goal is to further the cause of Christ and to bear eternal fruit for His Kingdom!
