Who we are
If you are wondering what to expect if you visit Worcester Park Baptist Church on a Sunday, then look no further! Our morning service starts at 10.30am each Sunday and most folk start arriving from about 10.10am.
There is an on-site car park, and on arrival at the front door of the Church, you will be met by one of the deacons (leaders of the Church).
Once inside the hall, you will be greeted by one of our stewards who will provide you a copy of the weekly newssheet. This gives you details of all the events happening at the Church over the coming week. If you have come with children, then we have various activities for them. Children and babies aged 0-11 generally stay in the Church service for the first 20-25 minutes of the service.
There are small chairs at the front on the left-hand side for the children, but if you would prefer your children to sit with you, that’s absolutely fine.
There are no reserved seats in the congregation, so please sit where you feel comfortable. We have an induction loop which is in operation for the whole hall.
There is no dress code – some folk prefer formal suits, some jeans and t-shirt.
The morning service is either led by our Minister or one of our Worship Team. We sing mainly contemporary songs with one or two hymns in our worship. The Word of God, prayer, and teaching are central to the service. All songs are projected on a screen, however if you have difficulty reading the screen, a printed copy of the words and a hymn book is also available from the stewards.
General directions for sitting and standing are given by the service leader, but feel free to remain seated if that is more comfortable for you.
The morning worship service usually has a Children’s talk lasting about 5 minutes which introduces the theme for their Sunday School which they go out to at about 10.50am. If you wish to take your children to Sunday School and stay with them while they settle, then just mention this to one of the Sunday School leaders.
After the children have left for their classes, the service continues along the theme for the day, with a 20-minute sermon. On the 3rd Sunday morning we celebrate Communion during the service. This is open to all those who love the Lord and seek to serve Him. The bread (gluten-free in morning services) and wine (non-alcoholic) are served as you remain in your seat. We eat the bread as we receive it, but wait until all have received the wine before drinking.
After the service has ended, we have a prayer team available to listen and talk with you. Please do make yourself known to our Minister, or one of the other Church leaders. Also, don’t forget to pick up your children! We also serve tea, coffee and biscuits in one of the back halls after the service – please join us.
