Minute Meditations
Repentance
- For Christians, the danger of "triumphalism" lurks. It is a false pride based upon our belief that we belong to God’s chosen people of the new covenant and resulting in the idea that we really don’t need repentance and renewal.
- To repent is to acknowledge one’s weakness and one’s failure to live the gospel of Christ fully.
- In repentance lies the path to Heaven. Jesus came not to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance. The Good Shepherd comes to seek and to find the lost lambs
- Repentance is not about straightening things out with an angry God. Often, God is more disappointed than angry. Repentance is about admitting that our sins affect how we treat other people
