60th Anniversary of Guardian Angels’ Church - summer Garden Party & BBQ
A sizzling summer garden party – July 2017
After a cloudy start, we were blessed with good weather for our summer Garden Party & BBQ. It was a wonderful day with something for everyone! Bacon butties got us off to a good start after the early Mass and again after the 10:30 Mass supported by burgers, sausages and hot dogs for the kids. It was a busy day for the BBQ team who cooked over 300 burgers & sausages and 300 bacon rashers!
Our musicians played an array of summer songs to keep us in good spirits and the bar served a cool glass of Pimms or Prosecco for those with a thirst! Inside the Parish Centre, we had our first ever Parish Bake Off (with our very own Mary & Paul judges). It was won by Pat Whitehead who baked a superb Victoria sponge.
Outside, there were stalls galore! We had a superb tombola, toys and games, treasure hunts, name the teddy, guess the snakes in the jar, chocolate fountains and splat the rat. The kids face painting, nails and glitter tent was also busy all day. On the school fields, we had beat the goalie, netball, pitching, and wellie throwing, as well as egg & spoon and obstacle races for kids of all ages!! The community spirit was lovely to see.

Come Lord Jesus!
Lord Jesus, master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas. We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day. We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us. We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom.
